‼️HISTORIC WIN FOR SWITZERLAND’S EDELWEISS XV! 💪🏻 Switzerland’s first-ever Rugby Europe Championship campaign just delivered an unforgettable moment—a dramatic last-minute victory against Germany in the seventh place final 🏆 at Fritz-Grunebaum Sportpark in Heidelberg on March 15th, 2025. Under the leadership of captain Tim Vögtli the Edelweiss XV showed incredible resilience. After trailing 14-3 at halftime, they struck back early in the second half with a powerful forward try, converted by Simon PERROD to close the gap to 14-10. Germany added a penalty to make it 17-10, but the Swiss never lost faith. With just 4 minutes left, finisher Thomas McCarthy peeled off a maul and used his strength to get over for a crucial try after the referee checked with the TMO. Perrod’s conversion made it. With the clock in the red, stand-off Jules PORCHER kept his composure and slotted a drop goal to send him and his team mates wild as the full-time (20-17) whistle blew.
